BotCon 2013 will be held at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego, California from June 27 to June 30, 2013.
Run-up
- On October 8, 2012, Fun Publications introduced a teaser image featuring a silhouette.
- On December 3, 2012, "A Flash Forward, Part 6" announced the set's theme would be Machine Wars.
- On December 7, 2012, the dates and location of the convention were revealed on the official site.
- On January 31, 2013, the first toy's robot mode was revealed via the official Transformers Facebook page: Machine Wars Hoist. His alt mode followed on February 6.
- On February 8, 2013, the second toy's robot mode was revealed via BotCon's website: Machine Wars Skywarp. His alt mode followed on February 12.
- On February 14, 2013, the third toy's robot mode was revealed via BotCon's website: Machine Wars Strika. Her alt mode followed on February 19.
- On February 21, 2013, the fourth toy's robot mode was revealed via BotCon's website: Machine Wars Obsidian.
- On February 26, 2013, Obsidian's alternate mode was revealed, guests James Horan and David Sobolov were announced, and the convention brochure went up, revealing amongst other things the identity of the fifth toy: Megaplex.
- On February 28, 2013, Megaplex's robot mode was revealed on BotCon's website.
- On March 14, 2013, registration went live, after a short delay.
- On May 21, 2013, a Saturday panel with the cast and crew of Rescue Bots, including all four Rescue Bots (Parvesh Cheena, Steve Blum, D.C. Douglas and Imari Williams) was announced.
