After finding the coordinates of Cybertron from the Autobots they desired off Nebulos, Zarak and Krunk sent a signal to Cybertron from the Grax Communications Facility, using the attached hyper-galactic tranceiver, hoping to establish communications. Scorponok's Decepticons received the signal and took the opportunity to travel to Nebulos, seeking to destroy the Autobots and conquer the planet. The Decepticons arrived at the Facility, making clear to Zarak that they had little concern for the Nebulans. Broken Glass!

To this effect, Zarak sent a videomatrix message through Llyra, his daughter, alerting the Nebulans of his captivity at the Facility. The Autobots fell into the trap, as the Decepticons revealed themselves to have also undergone the Headmaster process. In his attempt to create new bodies for the heads of the Autobot Headmasters that were left behind on Nebulos, the scientist Borx recovered some of Scorponok's encoded files from the Grax Communications Facility, which allowed him to experiment with an upgraded 2.0 version of the process. Loose Ends, Part 2 Unfortunately, this awoke the head of Scorponok who was able to control the minds of the Nebulan scientists into building a new body for him as well. Natural Selection, Part One

The resurrected Decepticon leader would continue to use the Grax Communications Facility as his base of operations, holding the Dinobot Grimlock captive there. Loose Ends, Part 5 After apparently convincing Grimlock to join him in his conquest of Cybertron in exchange for a new Nucleon-free body, Natural Selection, Part One Scorponok revealed that he had been working on a Gene Key capable of turning Autobots into Decepticons and introduced Grimlock to his new troops—Highbrow, Hardhead and Brainstorm! The five Transformers then left the Grax Communications Facility for Cybertron. Natural Selection, Part Two
