Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Mix & Match is an activity book released to tie-in with the Revenge of the Fallen film. The book's gimmick is that it is accompanied by an "Electronic Voice Changer" which can be used to "sound like a Transformer" as one reads the book. The device also features buttons to produce sound effects.
Otherwise, it is a simple retelling of the Revenge of the Fallen film.
Synopsis
In Shanghai. China, Sideswipe has teamed up with N.E.S.T. soldiers to track down and stop a Decepticon following an attack on the city. After a brief confrontation, Sideswipe blasts his foe, stopping the Decepticon.
Meanwhile, in America, Sam Witwicky prepares himself to leave for College, eager to start a new life, uninvolved with the Transformers' war. As he is putting away his things, Sam finds a piece of the AllSpark, which upon contact, fills his mind with bizarre symbols before burning a hole into his room's floor and landing in the kitchen. The AllSpark fragment then brings several appliances to life, who proceed to chase Sam outside. Sam calls for help, and Bumblebee comes to his rescue. Though Bumblebee successfully dispatches the AllSpark Mutations, he destroys part of Sam's house in the process. Sam informs Bumblebee that he can't take him with him to College, and that Bumblebee should return to his own kind in any case. Bumblebee agrees, stating that Sam should find his place amongst his own species as well. Not soon after the beginning of the semester, however, Sam is surprised to find Bumblebee coming to him in his Camaro mode. Bumblebee informs Sam that Optimus Prime himself has requested his presence, and the two friends speed off together.
Meanwhile, in Shanghai, the battle against the Decepticons continues. Optimus and Ironhide take on the monstrous Demolisher on a highway. As Demolisher goes down, he utters weakly: "The Fallen shall rise again."
A short time later, Sam meets Optimus in a quiet wooded area near his college. Optimus informs Sam that the Decepticons have stolen a fragment of the AllSpark, and that some humans in the government are beginning to lose trust in the Autobots. Optimus pleads with Sam to stand with them, but Sam refuses, whining that he simply wants to resume his college life.
Later still, Sam and Mikaela are driving in Bumblebee, Sam explaining to Mikaela what had been happening recently, when the car is captured by a Decepticon chopper. The group is brought before Megatron, who informs Sam that the Decepticons plan to forcefully remove the knowledge of the AllSpark from his brain. Before Megatron can do so, Optimus bursts into the steel mill where Megatron is hiding, and gives Sam and Mikaela the opening they need to escape.
Megatron is joined by Starscream and the Decepticon chopper, and all three battle Optimus at once. Though Optimus dispatches the chopper quickly, he is overwhelmed by the remaining two Decepticons, and is gravely wounded by Megatron. On Optimus's orders, Bumblebee takes Mikaela and Sam before fleeing the scene.
In order to decipher the symbols that plague his mind, Sam and Mikaela go to see Jetfire, an Autobot who has been on the Earth for many years. Upon seeing Sam, Jetfire transforms into his robot mode, and explains to the boy that the Symbols explain how the war between the Autobots and Decepticons began. He tells him of the Ancients, who built the Matrix of Leadership and a great machine that could destroy suns to collect their raw Energon. When one of the Ancients, The Fallen attempted to break one of the Ancients' rule and harvest Earth's Sun despite it supporting life, the others turned on him. The Fallen slaughtered all of the Ancients save one, who hid away the Matrix beneath the sands of Egypt. The Fallen is now returning to Earth, and if he finds the Matrix first, will use it to extinguish Earth's sun.
Jetfire then transports Sam and Mikaela to Egypt, where they are soon found out by the Decepticons. Five Constructicons happen upon the group and combine into the mighty Devastator to stop them from reaching the Matrix first. Luckily, Autobot reinforcements have already been sent to help out Sam. Skids and Mudflap take on Devastator, working together to defeat him. Just then, Megatron joins the battle, and blasts Sam, knocking him out. While unconscious, Sam has a dream in which the Ancients speak to him, telling him that they have found him worthy of the Matrix. When Sam awakens, he finds the Matrix in his hand, and sets out to help Optimus, now that he has the power to do so. Though Optimus is still weak from his previous battle, the army has brought him along to Egypt to help fight the Decepticons. Sam plugs the Matrix into Optimus Prime's chest, healing his injuries.
Though Optimus helps in the fight against the Decepticons, the Fallen arrives shortly thereafter, and uses his powers to teleport the Matrix out of Sam's hand. Optimus (now combined with Jetfire) steps in to foil the Fallen's plans of destruction, and leaps into the Fallen's machine, destroying it with a single blow. The energy surge that flows out of the machine dazes the remaining Decepticons, leaving them defeated. With the Matrix safely back in Optimus's possession, the Autobot leader informs Sam that he has once more helped the Autobots save the Earth!
