In the year 199X, while trying to spot the moonbase through his telescope, Genki Junpei observed the impact of Electro on the moon. Later, at the Self Defense-Force airshow, he witnessed the attack of the Decepticon Cyberjets and freaked out. He was rescued by Electro and given a totally rad hoverboard. He managed to survive an explosion caused by Megatron that nearly killed Optimus Prime and vaporized the forest he was standing in.
After Prime defeated Megatron, he asked Junpei to be the Autobots' human ally for no readily apparant reason, and help protect Earth's precious forestonite. The Earth is in Danger!
