Quintessa is a Transformer from The Last Knight portion of the live-action film series continuity family.

Quintessa is a mysterious and powerful space sorceress. The self-described "Prime of Life", she claims to have created the Cybertronian species and considers Cybertron to be hers to command.

She's also been referred to as "The Great Deceiver", though, so how much of what she says is actually true may be up for debate.

It seems my little Princess, in your anger, you destroyed them both.

The true origins and motives of the being known as Quintessa are unknown. She professes to be the creator and goddess of Cybertron, but in the distant past, her twelve guardian knights came to understand that she was not as benevolent as she appeared, and so stole her powerful staff and hid it upon the Earth.

In the present day, seeking to repair the shattered Cybertron—ravaged by the Autobot/Decepticon war—Quintessa took control of the deserted planet and began moving it across space, intending to replenish it by draining the lifeforce of Earth—or as she knew it, Cybertron's ancient enemey Unicron. To accomplish this, she required her staff, and under undivulged circumstances, made contact with the Decepticon leader |Megatron, charging him with locating it for her.

As Cybertron entered Earth's solar system, the unconscious Optimus drifted close by and was pulled to the surface, reactivating in the process. Optimus entered the control center and she greeted him as his "creator". He angrily charged at Quintessa but she merely blasted him with an electric energy wave and subdued him with automatic chains as her enforcer, Infernocus, appears. Quintessa chastised him for allegedly destroying his home world. Optimus objects that Megatron is responsible for the damage done before Quintessa introduces a red virus into his mind that corrupts him so that he obeys her command. Quintessa then dubs him "Nemesis Prime" and reveals the presence of Unicron within the earth. With "Nemesis" under her control, she sent him ahead to Earth to retrieve the Staff, but also dispatched Megatron to ensure the task was completed. She smiled as she felt the Staff activate, now wielded by Viviane Wembly, a descendant of Merlin, the human to whom the knights had entrusted it. Optimus eventually broke free of her control, at which point Megatron swooped in to steal the Staff and continue his mission.

As Cybertron now loomed in Earth's atmosphere, Megatron delivered the Staff to Quintessa, who then starts draining Unicron's energy to reform Cybertron, though she remained wary of Viviane, the only other being who could wield the Staff. She uses her powers to act as a conduit of the Staff's power and charged Megatron to lead the defense against the joint Autobot/human/Knight offensive. Unfortunately, their forces were defeated and the Autobots infiltrated her control center. An attack from the humans then caused the control center to tumble freely towards to the Earth. Upon seeing Viviane make a grab for the Staff, Quintessa ordered Megatron to kill the human, but he was dispatched and thrown from the structure by Optimus. As she attempted to maintain control, Optimus once again attacked her. Her power easily stopped her would-be servant, and she scolded him for his treachery. Unfortunately, Optimus was only a distraction as Quintessa is suddenly blasted from behind by the Autobot Bumblebee, and seemingly vaporized.

Her plan ultimately failed as Viviane retrieved the Staff, sparing Earth (and thus Unicron), while the Autobots returned to take control of Cybertron. Quintessa, however, was not defeated, later appearing alive and well in human form on Earth. She approached one of the study sites around one of Unicron's horns, warning the humans against touching it, though she claimed to know how to kill the Chaos-Bringer. The Last Knight

Notes

• Quintessa is loosely based on the Quintessons of Generation 1 lore, while her name comes form their home planet. Her physical design is based off of Quintus Prime, though her gender might be inspired by Solus Prime.
• Quintessa has the honor of becoming the first female antagonist who plays an important role in the live-action movies.
• Quintessa's ability to teleport may come from a built-in space bridge similarly to that of The Fallen.
