The clone synthesizer is a Decepticon device with the ability to create clones of Transformers.

The clone synthesizer was installed in the Decepticon's temporary base as they tried to lure the Autobots into a crevasse filled with korlonium crystals. Megatron had Laserbeak take scans of Optimus Prime. He used the scans along with the clone synthesizer to create a remote-piloted Optimus Prime clone that was so convincing that Teletraan I couldn't distinguish it from the real Optimus. To further convince the Autobots of the clone's authenticity, Megatron used the machine to clone Starscream as well, in order to provide a convincing "victim" for the fake Prime.
