The sonic lance is a Decepticon invention that, if tuned properly, can play havoc with cerebro circuitry.

A Decepticon team led by Soundwave used the sonic lance to control Sludge, who had lost higher functions due to his cybo-dendron burning out. The Dinobot was set loose on Doonstown and the sonic lance was stored in the cloaked Ark shuttlecraft that the Decepticons stole from a trio of Autobots. In case it was discovered, the sonic lance was booby-trapped by Scavenger to explode if it was turned off.
