- Dark Invasion is a film from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Written, directed by, and starring Rumble and Frenzy, Dark Invasion is a film that's the first of its kind; A Cybertronian film made on and for Earth audiences! With a hook like that coupled with top-notch action scenes and an Oscar-worthy script, there's no way it could lose at the box office to some tired, old sci-fi franchise! And who knows, it could even open the doors for future Cybertronian films as well!
In addition to its multi-talented producers and stars, Dark Invasion also features star-making performances from a variety of other hot, up-and-coming Cybertronian actors, including Needlenose, Laserbeak, Slugslinger, and Sky-Byte.

2005 IDW continuity
Dark Invasion began production at some point during the long, troubled shooting of Thundercracker's Starscream biopic. Rumble and Frenzy were even able to poach Sky-Byte from their rival Cybertronian production.
Dark Invasion released on June 23, the same day that J.J. Hackensack's new Space Battle film featuring the long-awaited return of Karen Fishook's Queen Spacela. While this release day competition certainly didn't do the film any favors, a movie featuring giant robots rampaging across Earth leaving mayhem and destruction in their wake also hit a little too close to home for most audiences. This led to Dark Invasion becoming a total flop, which in turn hurt the chances of any future Cybertronian cinema finding interest from Earth film studios. Starscream: The Movie
