The proton pack is a ghost-capturing device, and pseudo-weapon, invented by Egon Spengler and Ray Stantz for their ghost-hunting activities. In use, the operator uses a "wand" to direct a stream of positively charged ions at their ghost prey, acting as a snare to control the ghost, before a ghost trap is deployed to suck in and contain the ghost.
