A new era begins.

Synopsis

The heroic Decepticons are traveling aboard the Annex back to the twin planets of Shatteredverse Cybertron and Classicsverse Earth. Over telecommunications with Ultra Mammoth, Galvatron expresses concern as the fabric of the multiverse has changed. Magnus says that nothing is wrong, but then a mysterious wave of energy sweeps over Earth, and worldwide, every single human and Autobot Pretender vanishes. Underneath Ironworks, Perceptor and Wheeljack notice that something happening to the Rarified Energon, as if it were alive.

On Cybertron, Nova Prime and the Knights of Unicron have subdued the evil Autobots, but Unicron warns Nova that a greater evil awaits. Suddenly, the planet seemingly begins to fall apart. While Nova and the Knights barely maintain their footing, Rodimus appears and orders his Autobots to evacuate. Moments later, Cybertron completes its transformation into the physical form of the Transformers' creator-god, Primus! Awake for the first time in millennia, Primus observes the nearby Earth. As the lord of order, he decrees that anything not fitting his vision must be destroyed, starting with Earth.

The dark Primus first destroys the Ironworks base, and with it the heroic Autobots' shuttles, stranding them. The heroic Decepticons then arrive and are horrified to see what is going on, but Primus attacks them too. Utilizing his own shuttle, Grimlock evades Primus and successfully retrieves all his comrades from Earth. Primus then prepares to unleash his power, but the now-uninhabited planet explodes to reveal another Transformer god, Primus's sister Gaea! Hidden away by the Thirteen eons ago in anticipation of a future threat, Gaea is shocked that of all things, it is her brother who she now has to fight.

A clash of titans begins; Primus attacks Gaea, but she easily holds him off. The Knights of Unicron, still on Primus's body, come to Gaea's aid, destroying both of Primus's eyes. Primus contacts Rodimus for help, but Rodimus declines, stating that he would be of no use in this fight. Gaea then shoots and destroys Primus, leaving behind only his head. She then transforms back into planet mode, becoming a new Cybertron for all Transformers regardless of faction. As both heroic Autobot and heroic Decepticon settle into a new joint society, Aquarius tells Hun-Grrr that Gaea sent the Classicsverse humans to a habitable planet in another dimension. It is the dawn of a new age of peace...

...but it never ends, as Megatron lurks in the shadows, planning to bring war to this new civilization.

Notes

• So Gaea teleports away every human living on her... including the Cybertronian-enhanced Spike... and also the Autobot Pretenders who are wearing organic shells...but not Scoop's Nebulan partners Holepunch and Tracer. Huh.

Continuity notes

• Back in its debut in Crossing Over, Rarified Energon was noted to be unique in the multiverse. Now we know why: it is the lifeblood of Gaea, another (now former) multiversal singularity.
• The fate of the humans would be addressed in the next Club magazine story.

Transformers references

• Spike's abrupt declaration of 'Oh sh-' was previously uttered in full by his cartoon counterpart in The Transformers: The Movie.
• Shattered Glass Primus is based on his Cybertron body design with Unicron's Energon colors. Like Unicron in The Transformers: The Movie, he cluthches at his destroyed right eye before his final fate, as an orbiting head, mirrors Unicron's, completing the movie homage this comic arc has been.
• Gaea being the core of Classicsverse Earth is most likely a reference to Aligned incarnation of Unicron, who was also the core of Earth.

Real-world references

• Gaea's pose as she explodes out of Earth is almost directly lifted from the BotCon 2004 t-shirt which she debuted on.
