However, during testing the robot is proven to be unstable, and [[Sparkplug]] cannot control it. Autobot X is shutdown and put into storage. [[Wheeljack]] and [[Rachet]] beleive that they can fix Autobot X's bugs and use him as a temporary body for any Autobot that has been damaged in order to perserve their mind. In order to save Spike, Doctors at Metro Hospital, suggest to [[Sparkplug]] to transfer [[Spike]]s mind so that they can opperate on his body. Autobot X was a Autobot constructed Transformer that was built from various parts at Autobot Headquarters on Earth.

The various parts prevented Autobot X from possessing an alternate transformation mode, however, this gave it the ability to make use of various Autobot special powers as well as various weapons.

Generation 1 cartoon

After being badly wounded by Megatron, Spike Witwicky was left in a comatose state and it was decided that his mind would be transfered into the newly built Autobot X structure to allow the doctors to work on Spikes natural form. However, once the mind transferal was completed, Spike was left in an extremely unstable state that caused him to face bouts of anger at being turned into a "monster". Going out into the wilderness alone, he meets Megatron and the Decepticons. At first wanting to attack him, his unstable state resulted in intense levels of pain and he was easily twisted by Megatron to go against the Autobots. The near death of his father, Sparkplug Witwicky, by his own hands brought the truth back to Spike and he turned on the Decepticons. His mind was transfered back into his Human body after the surgical operation was a success.Autobot Spike

Spike would never be placed in a robot's body again. Never!
