:At first, Soundblaster seems like a much better choice than Soundwave, since he launches three sound-bubbles (with enough upgrades this changes to five) in a wide horizontal swath at a slightly faster fire rate, and he does more damage to enemies with each blast. This certainly helps him take on small groups of flying foes a lot easier. However, these bubbles lack Soundwave's ridiculous splash damage effect, both in strength and range, being less effective against tougher blocks. But it still lets him cut a pretty wide swath of destruction, especially against towers not yet on-screen as the rightmost sonic waves go hurtling away from the central attack angle.

The Chef Pig is a Deceptihog from the Angry Birds Transformers continuity.
Snoutwave superior, Constructihogs inferior

King Pig and his minions are always hungry for some tasty eggs... And Chef Pig is the go-to pig for changing the stolen eggs into delicious meals! He is somewhat snooty, but is also one of the more level-headed of the Bad Piggies. After being upgraded by the EggSpark into Soundwave Pig, he has become very analytically-minded, or can be insane as Breakdown Pig, but he has picked up the tendency to talk in short, simple sentences. With his newfound hands gave him the ability to, among other things, twirl his mustache.

Fiction

Angry Birds comic

Chef Pig was about to cook up some eggs when Chuck burst into Moustache Pig's latest building, and the Bad Piggies were forced to flee. Chef Pig was sure to bring the eggs along, though. As they ran, King Pig began to think out loud on how he would like to eat the eggs. To cover up for a rude remark he had made in response, Chef Pig pointed at a plume of smoke rising up in the distance. Venturing towards the smoke, the Pigs stumbled upon the EggSpark. Thinking that the artifact might be used as an "egg-cooker," King Pig ordered Chef Pig to figure out how to use it. The cook passed the task on to one of the Minion Pigs hauling King Pig's throne, and shoved him into the EggSpark. Upon making contact, the Minion became "Starscream Pig." The rest of the pigs touched the artifact, and Chef Pig became Soundwave Pig! The pigs were soon joined by a couple of birds who were similarly upgraded upon touching the EggSpark. In the struggle that followed, Soundwave Pig accidentally allowed the eggs to come into contact with the EggSpark. He quickly recollected them and the Deceptihogs fled. Angry Birds Transformers #1

As the Deceptihogs began to argue between themselves, a Terror Tower sprung up from beneath them. Thanks to Galvatron Pig's reckless actions, they then became trapped within the structure. As the Deceptihogs were puzzling out the fact that the tower's appearance was a result of the EggSpark's ongoing influence on Piggy Island, Grimlock Bird attacked them once more. Soundwave Pig was knocked down and lost his grasp on the eggs yet again. After Grimlock Bird's defeat, Soundwave Pig was about to inform Megatron Pig that the eggs had been exposed to the EggSpark's transformative energies, when the rest of the Autobirds turned up. In the scuffle that followed, Soundwave Pig teamed up with Megatron Pig to take on Jazz Bird. The fight came to an abrupt end when the Flock's eggs suddenly sprouted mechanical limbs, multiplied, and proved themselves to be hostile. Age of Eggstinction!

The Autobirds and Deceptihogs joined forces to fight this newly arisen threat, though Soundwave Pig did little more than twirl his moustache while the others gave their all in combat. Soundwave Pig and Megatron Pig also tried to scheme together to seize power (and an egg dinner) in the battle's aftermath, but they were overheard by Optimus Prime Bird. Megatron Pig and Optimus Prime Bird nearly broke their alliance, and had to be talked down by Soundwave Pig and Arcee Bird. The Autobirds and Deceptihogs agreed that they needed to change tactics if they hoped to stop Piggy Island from destroying itself. Soundwave Pig was assigned to a group tasked with capturing an Eggbot for study. His scheming nature won out once more however, as he allowed his teammates to be surrounded by giant Eggbots while he stood back and twirled his moustache again. Heatwave Bird made short work of them, and then hauled Soundwave Pig back to meet with the others. Revenge of the Fowlin'!

As Piggy Island's transformation spiraled out of control, Soundwave Pig came up with a final solution to stop the metamorphosis; all they needed to do is separate the EggSpark from the land. As the pigs and the birds made mad dash for the EggSpark, Soundwave Pig helped fend off the increasingly aggressive Eggbots. But as the EggSpark came within reach, Galvatron Pig went berserk and began attacking all those in his way, regardless of faction. Things were further complicated when Starscream Pig grabbed hold of the EggSpark for himself, intending to use its power for his own selfish goals. Soundwave Pig and Grimlock Bird stepped in to hold back Galvatron Pig while Bumblebee Bird launched both Starscream Pig and the EggSpark off-planet. Everything then returned to the way it was before the EggSpark had landed on Piggy Island. As the Bad Piggies went their own way, Chef Pig had to put up with another of King Pig's temper tantrums. Hard Boiled

Angry Birds storybooks

Soundwave Pig joined his leader in his plot to poach all the EggBots to eat them! They were thwarted by Optimus Prime Bird and his troops. Robot Birds in Disguise

Despite Megatron Pig believing that Soundwave Pig is his most loyal soldier, Soundwave Pig spends his spare time spying on his leader. He once attempted to smash Bumblebee Bird to pieces using a powerful audio weapon. Bumblebee Bird drove away before Soundwave Pig's weapon could have its intended effect however. Deceptihogs Versus Autobirds

Commercial appearances

Soundwave Pig showed off his sonic weaponry, then shook his robotic booty on the dance floor. Chef Pig as Soundwave

Soundwave Pig was part of a crazy dance party at the Deceptihogs' headquarters, where they used the EggSpark as a dance light. It was all very silly. Deceptihogs' Revenge

As Soundwave

  • Squad: Instruments of Destruction
  • Mission Type: Intelligence
  • Unlock Type: New Area (100/150 pigs)

Soundwave Pig is not too quick on his feet, and his slow-flying sonic-wave blaster is a one-shot affair with a significant pause between shots. This makes him pretty lousy against flying foes (especially missiles, which he has to hit at close range to have any hope of taking them out), and absolutely miserable against tough foes like Walking Mortar Towers, since the initial impact isn't even that strong... but oh, the splash effect on impact. The sonic boom when the sound bubble hits its target can be absolutely devastating at higher levels, obliterating entire block structures -even stone blocks- in a wide range instantly, especially once upgraded with the proper Accessories, leaving the damaged Bad Piggies hanging in midair until they pop on the now-empty ground below. This actually makes this a good weapon against large swarms of flying Pigs, as while the central target will only be partially hurt, the splash effect will pop most other pigs in range instantly.

This makes Soundwave an ideal choice for any block-busting-based Challenge Event to rack up big scores... but you'd best back him up with someone good at taking out foes, especially in the case of an unexpected Boss Pig or Unicron Pig encounter.

At first, Soundblaster seems like a much better choice than Soundwave, since he launches three sound-bubbles (with enough upgrades this changes to five) in a wide horizontal swath at a slightly faster fire rate, and he does more damage to enemies with each blast. This certainly helps him take on small groups of flying foes a lot easier. As Energon Soundwave

  • Squad: Energon Fueled
  • Mission Type: Firepower
  • Unlock Type: New Area (1250 pigs)

After numerous mishaps with energon cubes resulting in him getting knocked around as others got energon-boosted, Soundwave finally got an energon-infused form... in a fight with himself as Soundblaster. Just go with it.

Energon Soundwave puts a lot more focused power into his attacks than his other iterations. He fires two sonic-waves in rapid succession, which do pretty significant damage to the main target, but don't have the oomph when it comes to splash damage. His energon-laced form means he takes more damage from every attack, but like all "Energon" style bots, he can recharge in-level simply by absorbing energon cubes released by blasting cyberformed scenery.

As Breakdown

  • Squad: Specialists
  • Mission Type: Intelligence
  • Unlock Type: Challenge Event prize (10000 Tokens)
Just take it! Take it take it take it take it take it! TAKE IT!!

Breakdown is the first Chef Pig character in months and continues the recent trend of overpowered characters like Bubbles-as-Mirage and Mighty Eagle-as-Alpha Trion. Although there is the thing about him being paranoid. Which tends to hinder everything he does. Well, except his weapon.

His weapon is a scattershot of rotating lasers that can ricochet. And he calls in the Strikebot bomber every time he turns into vehicle form. Enough to make anyone have a breakdown.

Toys

Angry Birds Transformers

  • Soundwave Pig (Telepods Racer, 2015)
    • Accessories: Telepods base
As a Telepod figure, Soundwave Pig automatically transforms from vehicle to robot by pushing back his noggin, and back just by pushing him down. He has a scan-code on the bottom of his feet, which allows him to be scanned into the Angry Birds Transformers app when placed on top of a magnifying Telepods base, included with the set. Doing so repairs in-game Soundwave's health, and powers him up for a short amount of time.
This toy was redecoed into Soundblaster Pig and Energon Soundwave Pig (see below), and was retooled into Jazz Bird and Ratchet Bird.

  • Ultra Magnus Bird vs. Soundblaster Pig (Telepods Racers 2-pack, 2014)
This black redeco of Soundwave was only available as part of a two-pack with Ultra Magnus Bird.

  • Energon Racers Pack (Telepods Racers multi-pack, 2014)
    • Accessories: Telepods base
This clear-blue version of Soundwave Pig was only available in the "Energon Racers Pack" multi-pack with "Energon" versions of Optimus Prime Bird, Grimlock Bird, Lockdown Pig, and Starscream Pig.

Notes

  • Chef Pig is one of the 'antagonists' of the Angry Birds franchise.
  • With him playing Breakdown, that means is one of the few Deceptihogs using Autobird models. Not to mention his body-style is the Jazz body-type. Puts everything in full circle with Blaster doesn't it?
