On May 30, 2007, DreamWorks greenlit two sequels to Transformers. The first of the two, tentatively named Transformers 2 is currently scheduled to be released June 26, 2009.[1] Though Roberto Orci stated that the Writers Guild strike would likely delay Transformers 2's release, Michael Bay refuted this, claiming the movie was still on schedule[2]. The reason behind Bay's confidence was discovered by Orci shortly after the strike ended. The director had apparently taken the outline the writers had handed in the night before the strike, and begun movie prep based on it.[3]
Current information includes:
- Megan Fox, and Peter Cullen are signed on to return.[citation needed]
- Producer Tom DeSanto has envisioned a storyline introducing the Constructicons and Soundwave.[citation needed]
- Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are recruiting Ehren Kruger to help them write the screenplay. Michael Bay and producers Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are also returning, as well as actor Shia LaBeouf. [4]
- The producers expect that with a bigger budget and the special effects worked out, the Transformers will have a larger role and more screen time.[citation needed]
