Use the template {{captionhappy}} on a new user's talk page when you don't feel like explaining our feelings about humorous additions in an in-depth and nuanced manner. If they ignore this, that's on them, and they deserve whatever punishment they get.

"Apparently, some of your kind saw fit to decorate me while I was waiting."

If you haven't yet contributed anything, we'd really rather you didn't simply change jokes or add new ones without adding actual content. This also holds true for removing captions whole-hog or replacing them with "information" that really isn't.
Remember, we're meant to be informative first, funny second.
