An exo-suit is a mechanical suit like device that allows humans and other humanoids to venture into environments such as outer space, that would otherwise be hazardous and even fatal. Many models possessed arm blasters, thrusters and the ability to transform into a vehicle mode.

The first depiction of the exosuit was as worn by Spike Witwicky. Later, a similar suit was provided for Daniel Witwicky, which proved able to transform into an all-terrain vehicle. This suit was subsequently enhanced via the Nebulan binary-bonding process to become Daniel's Headmaster suit to connect to Arcee. The Transformers: The Movie (1986)
