The Aptitude Analyzer is a high-tech Cybertronian device invented by Ratchet for the purposes of matching Rescue Bot recruits with a suitable mentor for one-on-one training.

At the beginning of the second year of training, Optimus Prime Had Ratchet bring the Aptitude Analyzer to the Academy so he could test the recruits. Whirl was apprehensive, believing the machine might not find her worthy of a mentor. The tests Ratchet had the recruits go through included running on treadmills, a psychological test, and a race through a maze, after which the analyzer was able to pair each of the recruits with a teacher.
