• The Vanguard-class designation was first assigned to the Ark's ship class in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide.
• The pseudocanonical novel Alignment includes a type of starship named "Vanguard Command ships". As Simon Furman also wrote The Ultimate Guide, Alignment may be the first usage of the "Vanguard" idea.
