A Vanguard-class Deep Space Interceptor is a large and heavily armed spacecraft. The most famous ship of its class is the Ark.

- The pseudocanonical novel Alignment includes a type of starship named "Vanguard Command ships". As Simon Furman also wrote The Ultimate Guide, Alignment may be the first usage of the "Vanguard" idea.
