Maximal Buster

Whenever a battle calls for a Maximal to use a ranged weapon to blindly fire lasers at their enemy, the Cybertron Buster (サイバトロンバスター Saibatoron Basutā) is here to help!

This is a standard-model blaster used only by Maximals, whenever their special attacks are considered too powerful for a particular battle—because, let's be honest, if a battle can be won by a single blast from, let's say Bighorn's "Buffalo Missile", the fight would be over in mere seconds.

Alternatively, the Cybertron Buster is also used by Maximals that don't have ranged weapons or blasters in their regular arsenal.

Fiction

Beast Wars II cartoon

Scuba was the first to wield the Cybertron Buster, in the episode "The Lake Trap". As the character and his toy both lacked any blaster-type weapons, the generic weapon made for an excellent addition to his dramatic entrance in the Predacon base. Future episodes saw all the members of Lio Convoy's Unit wielding a Cybertron Buster at one point or another—most notably in "Galvatron Revived". The Cybertron Buster would also be used as a generic stand-in blaster for small-scale battles where it was required for both sides to fire multiple lasers and rockets at eachother without harming one another.

Additionally, the first few episodes treated most toy gimmicks and third modes (like Apache's "Angry Combat Mode") as mysterious and unknown by their peers; only being mentioned as rumors in the character introduction featurettes at the end of the first three episodes. A lot of the toy gimmick weapons had also been depicted as over-powered to some extent; having characters only use them as a last resort, until the show no longer required them to be used sparingly.

Despite the Cybertron Buster being used by almost everyone, the Beast Wars II Encyclopedia listed the weapon on Bighorn's page as one of his weapons, likely due to the lack of any real features beyond his "Horn Thunder" and "Buffalo Missile" attacks.

The Cybertron Buster was the first role play toy released in the Japanese Beast Wars toyline and was sold among the Beast Wars II line-up of products. When batteries are inserted and the trigger is pulled, the barrel emits a light that shines through the green transparent plastic parts. As the lights flash, a laser firing sound effect can be heard.

The Cybertron Buster is a molded accessory piece, that was made available with Masterpiece Lio Convoy. It features a tab on either side of the hand that slots into either of Lio Convoy's hands.

Lio Convoy was released as an EB Games exclusive in Canada.
