Season 8 is near and one of the two new bots is a battle damaged drift who seems to be going up against mirage? Wait what?! Isn’t Mirage an autobird. Anyway this drifts weapon acts pretty much the same to regular drifts.

The name or term "Bomb" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Bomb (disambiguation).
Bomb is an Autobird from the Angry Birds Transformers continuity family.
I am a Samurai, but also "whk-whek-whek-whk-whkk" a bomb!

Bomb is a bomb. And a bird. A bomb bird. Despite his explosive properties, Bomb gets along well with the other members of the Flock, and frequently shows concern for their well-being. After being upgraded into Drift Bird by the EggSpark, he displays a single-minded obsession with "honor" and becomes more even-tempered. He nonetheless acts as a fierce warrior when he finds himself immersed in battle. In his new form, he also displays a preference towards using his newly-acquired sword, though his upgrade has not robbed him of his explosive capabilities.

Taking on the guise of Wheeljack allows Bomb to combine his explosive tendencies with Wheeljack's inventions.

Fiction

Angry Birds comic

After the Bad Piggies had stolen a batch of the Flock's eggs, Bomb accompanied his fellow birds on a raid to retrieve them. Chuck managed to foul up Red's attack plan, causing the Bad Piggies' building to collapse on top of the Flock while King Pig and his minions escaped. Using his explosive abilities, Bomb managed to disinter himself, Terence, Bubbles, and Chuck from the rubble. The Blues then flew off, intent on securing the eggs on their own. Upon noting their absence, the rest of the Flock began searching for them, only for the Blues to return and babble about an "EggSpark" transforming the Bad Piggies into "Deceptihogs." "I have shamed myself. I must commit Sudoku."

By the time Bomb came upon the EggSpark, it had already transformed fellow birds Chuck and Hal into "Bumblebee Bird" and "Grimlock Bird" respectively. The group puzzled over their friends' new forms, with Bomb helping Terence point out that their strange new appendages were called "arms and legs." Though taken aback at first, Bomb and the rest of the Flock eventually agreed to also touch the EggSpark and upgrade themselves into "Autobirds." Upon becoming Drift Bird, Bomb was overtaken by the sudden urge to exposit about his new form and persona. He explained that he was now ruled by honor and clarity of purpose. He could still blow up though. Upon Optimus Prime Bird's command, Bomb and the rest of the group transformed and rolled out into action. They eventually caught up to the Deceptihogs, and steeled themselves for a confrontation. Drift Bird found himself reminding the others that there was no need to recklessly rush into combat. As the inevitable battle became underway, Drift Bird cheered on Heatwave Bird as the latter battle Galvatron Pig. The scuffle came to an abrupt end when the Flocks' eggs, having been previously exposed to the EggSpark, sprouted mechanical limbs, multiplied, and proved themselves to be excessively hostile. Age of Eggstinction!

The two factions joined forces to combat the newly arisen threat of the Eggbots, and Drift Bird once more entered the fray. The battle did not go well, forcing the 'bots to change tactics. Drift Bird was assigned to a team whose mission was to rescue Starscream Pig, previously captured by the Eggbots. His fellow teammate, Bluestreak Bird got himself captured in turn, prompting Drift Bird to exclaim that honor demanded they save him them. The rescue operation had to be put off as Drift Bird and the remaining members of his team found themselves surrounded by gargantuan Eggbots. During the battle, Drift Bot heard clanging coming from within the structure in which Bluestreak Bird and Starscream Pig were being held captive. Using one of his swords, he cut open an exit for them, sending both Bluestreak Bird and a battalion of Eggbots pouring out of the hole. The Eggbots from within met with the Eggbots from outside, and frightened one another into fleeing. Having rescued their friend, the group reconvened with the rest of their teammates to further plan out their battle tactics. Revenge of the Fowlin'!

Due to the EggSpark's ongoing influence, Piggy Island became increasingly dangerous and unstable. Realizing that they needed to separate the artifact from the land to end the madness, the Autobirds and Deceptihogs headed in its direction. When they found their path obstructed by a colossal wall, Drift Bird activated his explosive abilities to breach it. Though he was successful in clearing a path to the EggSpark, his display of power had left Drift Bomb disoriented and unable to help further. The EggSpark was nonetheless launched off-planet, returning Piggy Island and its inhabitants to their natural state. As the restored Flock discussed the day's events, Bomb pointed out that they all had been acting out of character upon receiving their robot bodies. He then joined Terence and Bubbles in listening to Hal play some tunes on his banjo. Hard Boiled

As Drift

  • Squad: The Hotrods
  • Mission Type: Firepower
  • Unlock Type: Challenge Event, in-game purchase

One of the slower sports-car bots, Drift requires patience and careful aim. He hurls slow-moving electrified shurikens that don't do immediate damage, but explode a half-second after impact, destroying entire structures. Hit the right block in a tower and the effect can be devastating. Its effect on flying foes is immediate, however, as the charged projectiles act like an electromagnetic pulse, dropping flying Pigs out of the air and stopping Walking Mortar Towers and Monoliths in their tracks, . Even better, the EMP effect has a blast radius that can take out multiple flying Pigs with a single shot.

He was first unlockable in the "2-Year Celebration!" Challenge Event, which ran from October 5 through October 14 2016. He cost a whopping 7500 Tokens to unlock (the highest cost for a character at the time), which were earned through daily challenges in special stages. However, he could also be bought and unlocked instantly as part of the "Drift Bundle" in the first two days and the last two days of the Event, which included Drift, his Great Sword Accessory, and 1000 Gems, all for a mere $29.99 in real actual money. No, we're not kidding. Angry Birds Transformers

As Wheeljack

Optimus! I built a machine that builds giant slingshots!
  • Squad: The Wreckers
  • Mission Type: Intelligence
  • Unlock Type: Challenge Event

Combining Bomb's explosive nature with Wheeljack's explosive inventions can't be good for his productivity in his workshop. Ever so often he does successfully create new (and expensive) gadgets like the miniature Jackhammer, But it probably makes Ratchet all the more grumpy when he has to put him and his workshop back together.

His newest weapon/gadget is a salvo rocket launcher that fires a cluster of lobbed explosive missiles! Much more powerful and effective than those of that yellow Sunstorm Pig.

Wheeljack was newly introduced in December 2016, and was available for 7500 tokens in the game's Christmas event. Surprisingly, there was no real-money character bundle with Wheeljack for sale, but there was one in the next event that focused on getting just one accessory for him.

As Grapple

Oh yeah, he’s a big boy now
  • Squad: Support
  • Mission Type: Intelligence
  • Unlock Type: Challenge Event

Grapple is normally an architect/artist, but in this game, he works with the other Autobirds and Deceptihogs to demolish towers.

In battle, Grapple is rather unusual. His weapon is a lightning beam attack, but in terms of attack power, it’s extremely weak, even at level 15, de-cyberforming scenery slower than Optimus Prime. Combined with his somewhat weak health makes him seem rather useless. However, if there is a close enough block or grounded pig to where the weapon starts firing, the nearest block or grounded pig will be teleported to that location. It can then be dragged around, and if the weapon stops in some way that involves becoming a different form, (vehicle, washing machine, scrambled body) it will be immobilized in place until he returns to humanoid form.

There are many ways to use this weapon to your advantage, like using the objects as wrecking balls, or using them as cover from enemy attacks. The best way to put Grapple to your advantage is to be creative. Although you can use other Transformers better.

Grapple follows the trend (No, not the OP characters thing [well, kind of], but the other one) being available in the event of the same name for 10000 tokens.

As Warpath

"Bam! Pow! I have IED! Ka-BLAAAM!
  • Squad: Support
  • Mission Type: Firepower
  • Unlock Type: Challenge Event

Who would have that crazy Bomb would go with crazy Warpath. Anyways Warpath's weapon, Oh his baby girl is a piercing instant-hit laser something like the various Galvatrons, which obliterates most anything it hits as well as leaving a (weak) vortex in its wake. But the real power comes once he's leveled up a bit, which adds a hefty splash-damage explosion on contact with a target. Warpath can vaporize whole block towers with a single shot, and never needs to reload to boot! See, destructive.

But he does have one huge weakness: overheating. Too much rapid tap-blasting will make his gun overheat, and when targeting things that take more than one direct hit to destroy, such as Walking Mortar Towers, his weapon fires extremely rapidly and will overheat extremely quickly. The cooldown from an overheat takes several seconds, leaving him vulnerable, so tap responsibly, learn to un-target Mortar Towers quickly after one or two hits... and try to get some of his cooldown-improving accessories quickly!

As Omega Supreme

So maybe he’s turning back into Deadlock then eh?
  • Squad: Gestalt
  • Mission Type: ???
  • Unlock Type: Gem Purchase

The fact that Omega Supreme is the biggest Autobot around clearly confused the game developers: they put him in the Gestalt squad, together with Combiner Volcanicus. On top of that, one of Omega’s accessories is an Enigma of Combination. Ah well. It’s still a strong character with a pretty cool model... Right?

Omega wields three different weapons in this game: the first is a gold colored instant-hit beam that holds blocks in the air to be dragged around by the player. A fun and curious thing about this beam is that it never overheats! The secondary weapon is a red colored instant-hit beam that has a life of its own, targeting random blocks and/or pigs and quickly destroying them. This beam does overheat but does not really take long to recharge. And last but not least there is the special ability that replaces the vehicle mode for this giant Autobird: upon activation, Omega will make the Fist-Slam move, that big characters do when there’s stuff in their path, and all blocks on the screen will just cease to exist, leaving piggies that were previously positioned on towers no choice but to plummet to their deaths.

As Battle Damaged Drift

“So how do you feel about being mistaken for a combiner?”
“Feelings: mixed.”
  • Squad: Ground Force
  • Mission Type: ???
  • Unlock Type: Prime pass

Season 8 is near and one of the two new bots is a battle damaged drift who seems to be going up against mirage? Wait what?! Isn’t Mirage an autobird. Anyway this drifts weapon acts pretty much the same to regular drifts.

Notes

  • Though Bomb/Drift appeared in the early, made-before-the-games-were-done fiction, he did not actually appear in the game for two years. Yowza.
  • Like other early-plans-but-late-addition characters, his in-game appearance is significantly different from the original concept. Though he keeps the helmet design inspired by Age of Extinction Drift, his coloration is based on Generation 1 Drift, and his body is an altered Bubbles/Jazz model. He even shares some of Jazz's dancing animations.
  • Upgrading Drift used to require the use of Deceptihog Materials, a reference to how the various Drifts began their lives as Decepticons. Strangely, so does Wheeljack.
  • Frequent Japanese Transformers' voice actor Kenji Nomura provides the voice of Bomb in the Japanese dub of The Angry Birds Movie and its sequel.
