This template is used to easily make the en dash (–) character, not supported by most keyboards.
The – is most-commonly used to separate a range of values. The en dash is wider than a hyphen/minus sign, but is half the width of an em dash.
Examples:
- I particularly liked issues 50–60 of the original Marvel Comics series.
- The Generation 1 cartoon was aired from 1984–1986 in the U.S.
It is possible to permanently convert the {{n-}} template into a – sign by typing {{subst:n-}} ...but it's probably easier just to copy the character out of this template.
- For further information, see: Wikipedia:Dash#En_dash
