::Well, I'm not sure whether they survived in the MF manga (or manga continuity, and I'm not sure the relation between Zone anime and manga<ref>Are they same or just parallel? I can't recall, ha ha...</ref>, either.), but they sure live well in anime continuity before Zone anime.
