A transwarp cell is a device used to power a starship through transwarp.

Transwarp cells were necessary for use in travelling through transwarp space. It appears that it was difficult to manufacture a transwarp cell from scratch, as the Maximals (and Tarantulas) had to steal transwarp cells from the Darksyde, which Megatron kept under tight security.
