J.E "Rik" Alvarez was formerly an intellectual property development manager at Hasbro and a member of the Transformers fandom before crossing over into official capacities. Alvarez is ambidextrous, and frequently lightened the mood around the Hasbro, Inc. offices with feats of juggling.
Alvarez first came into prominence in 1999 with the publication of his Unofficial Guide to Transformers: 1980s Through 1990s. After becoming a writer and editor with Fun Publications. Among other things in his Hasbro career, he was involved in Erector's Transformers Hall of Fame entry. He was heavily involved in the Aligned continuity and making the "Binder of Revelation", which ended up being frustrating.<ref>Rik Alvarez panel, slide show - See fan photos</ref><ref>Rik Alvarez panel, slide show on Beast Hunters - See fan photos</ref> In among other claims about Aligned, Alvarez has said he was unhappy with all the novels and rewrote them at the eleventh hour,<ref>TF2005.com "More tidbits from a friend of mine who took notes at the panel: ... Rik basically rewrote them himself the night before they were published." He was probably exaggerating!</ref> something which Alex Irvine denies.<ref>https://twitter.com/alexirvine/status/661371677054402561</ref> Andrew Hall says he was also invaluable in getting the Arms Micron bios done in time.<ref>Allspark forums: "In his defense, Rik was of incredible help to me while I was working on the bios for the Arms Micron toys.
Many needed to be written before the characters appeared in the shows, so he gave me a lot of background info that helped me reflect the show."</ref>
After leaving Hasbro, he started a toy company called Play With This Too and served as Chief Executive Manager.<ref>Play With This Too: Meet the Band</ref> There've been two unsuccessful attempts to make totally original toys through Kickstarter.<ref>Lost Protectors and Boneyard & Jetstrike</ref>
He officiated at Aaron Archer's wedding.

Notes
- Rik permanently donated figures from his collection to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Revenge of the Fallen display. He even helped set it up, missing the movie premier. <ref>[1] "These are my actual toys I had to permanently donate to the Smithsonian. I got to set up this display overnight once the museum was closed. I’ve got stories and pictures of me with airplanes I shouldn’t have! Everyone else went to the ROTF premier but me. I did this instead!"</ref>
