Riggorus (リゴラス Rigorasu) is a Decepticon combat surgeon.<ref>Rendered on the Masterpiece packaging in Japanese as yasen gun'i (野戦軍医)</ref> He used to be part of the strategy division, but became so fed up with the high casualty rates and incompetent planning that he switched to the under-staffed rescue division. Riggorus's medical capabilities have been boosted by an upgrade stolen from the Autobots. His arms are capable of turning into a variety of tools to help his patients, and he's equipped with a forcefield so he can protect patients as he works on them in the field. He's also capable of downloading more knowledge instantly via an ability plug-in, but this comes with a severe risk to Riggorus's psychology—it might turn him... good.

He's well aware of his uncanny resemblance to the Autobot known as Trailbreaker; while they've never actually met, Riggorus still holds a grudge against him, having vowed to hunt down and destroy him.

While on a mission to the planet Foreston, to steal more of the mysterious G2 bodies the Autobots had been developing or destroy them if they could not, Riggorus witnessed a shuttle crash nearby, containing Garboil. As he worked on the stricken Cobalt Sentry, they inadvertently let slip about a mysterious group of "Liegemen", rogue Decepticons building an empire on the fringes of known space, who the Cobalt Sentries had been providing with "recruits", a fact Megatron was being kept in the dark on. Patching Garboil up, Riggorus decided they would talk about patient-doctor confidentiality later, once the battle was won. Masterpiece Riggorus profile

Masterpiece

  • Riggorus (Masterpiece, 2024)
  • ID number: MP-56+
  • Release date: March 30, 2024
  • Accessories: 2 shoulder cannons, 2 twin-barreled guns, force barrier
Masterpiece Riggorus is a redeco and retooling of MP-58 Hoist, itself an extensive retooling of MP-56 Trailbreaker, with the latter's camper attachment on its back, and a new head based on the original Trailbreaker toy. Riggorus transforms into a fully-licensed Toyota 4WD Hi-Lux camper truck with an opening hood and doors, with the coloration based on the yellow Diaclone "4WD Hi-Lux" figure.
Fitting in with the toy-based head, Riggorus comes with two double-barreled pistols which can mount over their hands, two shoulder guns, both based on the original Diaclone mold's accessories. Also included is a plastic "force barrier" effect part which pegs onto Riggorus's chest. In the proud Masterpiece tradition of packing additional cartoon accessories with redecoes, that last one is a screen-accurate reproduction of Trailbreaker's trademark force field ability as seen in the Generation 1 cartoon episode "The Immobilizer," intended for use with his own Masterpiece figure.

Notes

Surprise! I’m a Decepticon!
  • Back in 1982, Takara released the Diaclone mecha toy 4WD Hi-luxe (4WD (ダブルディー)ハイラックス) in three decoes. In 1984, Hasbro used the black version to make Generation 1 Trailbreaker. Long afterward, the blue version would become Generations Selects/Legacy DK-3 Breaker in 2022. Finally in 2024, the yellow version came to fruition as Masterpiece Riggorus.
  • Riggorus's name derives from "rig" and "rigorous".
