He started out in the 1940s, drawing Captain Codfish, and began freelancing for Fawcett Comics and Timely Comics (later Marvel Comics) before working for DC. He worked on many of the big-name comic books, including The Flash, Captain America, Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, and a great number of Batman comics. He recently drew the syndicated comic strip Mary Worth.
