Transformers (abbreviated on this wiki as "movie") is the first franchise built around the live-action film series. It was released in 2007, and was accompanied by a marketing and merchandise blitz. This franchise is considered the start of a new, live-action film continuity family, partly because of several points of major differentiation from Generation 1, and partly as a practical bookkeeping matter: the movie franchise itself encompasses at least a dozen micro-continuities.
The movie franchise covers the first film and all related media including:
- Toyline
- Film
- Score
- Books
- Comics
- Video games
- A mobile game
- Online games
- Board and card games
- Music albums
- Licensed food
As well as an enormous swath of additional licensed material.
This franchise is followed by the Revenge of the Fallen franchise.
