Hybrid Technologies, sometimes shortened to Hy-Tech, is a major electronics corporation on Earth. Following the death of its founder, control of the company was left to his daughter, Astoria Carlton-Ritz.

The Transformers cartoon

Astoria was none too happy about being left as chairperson of Hy-Tech. During her birthday party, which the board members were forced to attend, Ramjet, Dirge, and Thrust attempted to kidnap her before she was narrowly rescued by Powerglide. During a debrief with Optimus Prime, Powerglide learned that Astoria didn't have access to all the company's research or facilities, suggesting there was something larger at play that the Decepticons might want. This was confirmed when the three Coneheads returned and successfully abducted Astoria, taking her to the Decepticons' Sky Platform. There, Megatron interrogated her over an energy formula created by Hy-Tech that her father supposedly left her, one that would allow their energy transductor to convert the Earth's magnetic field into energon, though Astoria denied any knowledge of this. When Powerglide's attempts to rescue her were blocked by an energy storm created by the transductor, Astoria threw her necklace at it, which contained the energy formula, causing the tower to explode and the storm to dissipate.
