Genvo is a Decepticon from the Energon Universe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Genvo is a young and eager Decepticon recruit, convinced he's found the best path forward for his species. Despite being filled with an almost childish sort of admiration for his cause and his leader, Genvo displays a callous disregard for creatures that he considers below him.

Fiction

Energon Universe

Early into the Great War, Genvo was an early sign-on to the Decepticon movement. On Jetfire's last night on Cybertron before he set off to find new energy sources, Genvo joined him and Ulchtar in viewing Omega Supreme's passing over Moonbase Two. Ulchtar managed to detonate an explosive that got the Guardian's attention and got them to wave at the trio. After Jetfire flew off, Genvo assured Ulchtar that they still had each other.

Later in the war, Genvo and Ulchtar crossed paths again when shelling destroyed the latter's lab. As Genvo tried to evacuate his friend, he was shot in the back. In his last moments, Genvo praised his old friend for being the one who had "screamed the stars" into noticing them. As Ulchtar carried his friend away, he was approached and recruited by Megatron, the Seeker taking on the name "Starscream" to honor Genvo.

When damaged and abandoned on Earth, Starscream flashed back to his last memories with Genvo. Transformers #13

Notes

  • Genvo was designed by artist Jason Howard, who (per Transformers writer Daniel Warren Johnson's remarks in the letters page for issue #15) designed him to resemble a kind of "proto-Seeker". Indeed, Genvo's body shape generally resembles that of a typical Seeker, but pared down and with jet boosters atop his shoulders.
