Rooster Teeth Productions was an American media and entertainment company based in Austin, Texas. The company was founded on April 1, 2003 when it began production of the machinima series Red vs. Blue, which would continue for 21 years and become one of the longest-running web series of all time. The company later produced several other projects, including live-action productions, independent films, music videos, and animated series such as RWBY, Camp Camp, and gen:LOCK. Rooster Teeth also produced extensive gaming content as part of their "Let's Play" network, and was the parent of several other channels such as The Slow Mo Guys, Funhaus, and Death Battle. Following the shutdown of Machinima, Rooster Teeth became the home for several of the site's former series, including the Prime Wars Trilogy cartoons. In February 2019, it was announced that Rooster Teeth would be producing the War for Cybertron Trilogy animated series, which premiered on Netflix in July of the following year.

On March 6, 2024, it was announced that Rooster Teeth would be shut down by its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, with the site officially shutting down on May 15.[1][2] In the time since, some of their former channels have gone independent, including The Slow Mo Guys and Death Battle, while a few shows were picked up by other distributors, such as Viz Media acquiring RWBY. In early 2025, original company founder Burnie Burns reacquired the Rooster Teeth name and some of its properties, expressing an interest in re-launching the brand.
