They were intercepted by an Autobot Vanguard-class fighter and were about to be arrested for but were saved by the arrival of the Star Seeker warship Tidal Wave, which destroyed the Autobot ship. - The pseudocanonical novel Alignment includes a type of starship named "Vanguard Command ships". As Simon Furman also wrote The Ultimate Guide, Alignment may be the first usage of the "Vanguard" idea.
