Most awesome image ever.

The New Avengers/Transformers is a crossover miniseries between comic book companies IDW Publishing and Marvel Comics.

The New Avengers/Transformers issues:

Overview

Megatron has recently come to Earth to put down insubordination of the infiltration team there led by Starscream. After crippling Starscream and bringing the rest of the team in line, Infiltration Megatron reestablishes infiltration protocol and initiates phase two. Escalation #1 Phase two involves the destabilization of global politics with the goal of having national powers fight each other to reduce their ability to resist in later stages. Megatron's first course of action is to establish a base in the Eastern European country of Latveria and attack the neighboring country of Symkaria, knowing the Symkarians would blame the Latverians and likely start a war over the matter. He also steals the Psycho-Prism from Doctor Doom, which has the effect of increasing hostile tendencies of nearby humans, which would further escalate tensions.

Both the Avengers and Autobots investigate the disturbance...

Creative team

The title was written by Stuart Moore and illustrated by Tyler Kirkham. Moore would later write the Spotlight issue for Ramjet, who made his IDW debut in this series.

Notes

  • The best place to locate this series in the 2005 IDW continuity is during the latter part of Escalation #1, after Megatron is last seen in his Cybertronian tank form (he is in gun form in this series). Megatron had gathered his troops together at that point to secure his leadership and oversee the reestablishment infiltration protocol. Ironhide and Sunstreaker were off driving Hunter O'Nion, Verity Carlo, and Jimmy Pink home at that part of the story which would account for their absence in this series. Spotlight: Ramjet, which takes place after this series, begins during Escalation #2.
  • In terms of Marvel continuity, this story obviously doesn't take place within the mainstream Marvel Comics universe ("Earth-616") due to the presence of the Transformers. Still, writer Stuart Moore wrote the series as if it occurred "between the first and second story arcs" ofNew Avengers (mid-2005, two years before it's real-world publication date).[1] However, it's not a perfect fit, as, at that point in time, Doctor Doom was supposed to be dead.
