He is most famous for performing the role of Kōji Kabuto in the 1972 series Mazinger Z, but is also well-known as the Japanese dubbing actor for Jackie Chan.
During Kiss Players, Ryōtarō Okiayu played the part of Rodimus, but patterned his performance after Ishimaru's.
