In the shadow of the moon, Optimus Prime battles Megatron for possession of the Omega Lock!
Synopsis
The Autobots begin the search for the missing Atlantis in earnest, but despite the help of their civilian comrades, they are unable to find any trace of the lost starship. Eventually, Optimus Prime has a brainwave-if the ship is not on Earth, but lacked the power to teleport any further away, then there's only one place it could be: in the shadow of the moon! The Decepticons, unfortunately, have already used the Planet Map to figure this out, and are well on their way toward the Atlantis, unaware they are being followed by the mysterious robot Sideways.
Aboard the Atlantis out in space, Vector Prime explains to the children that he believes the Omega Lock to be onboard the ship. Before they can start searching, alarms alert them to the approached of the Decepticons, so Vector Prime transforms the Atlantis into battle mode, allowing its powerful weapons systems to keep the Decepticons busy. No sooner have they begun their descent into the bowels of the ship, following the kids' sensitivity to the Omega Frequency, than Megatron is able to break through the Atlantis's hull, and starts after them.
The other Decepticons are about to follow him through when the Autobots arrive and engage them in battle. In the middle of the fight, Sideways comes streaking out of nowhere and opens fire on Starscream, offering Optimus Prime the distraction he needs to break off from the battle and get inside the Atlantis. The other Autobots take the help where they can get it and form on Sideways to join him in attacking Starscream, when suddenly, out of the blue, the enigmatic robot summons a Cyber Key, and switches his insignia to a Decepticon one! The mystified Autobots are quickly taken down by Sideways, who then transforms to vehicle mode and flies off, leaving all the combatants (not to mention viewers) wondering just what the hell that was all about.
Deep within the Atlantis, Vector Prime's team have located the room containing the Omega Lock, but the device itself is nowhere to be seen. Vector Prime touches a control console, causing six pedestals to rise from the floor. The three kids and three Mini-Cons each take a pedestal, and when they all touch them simultaneously, the Omega Lock at last emerges! Vector Prime is about to perform the last step that will release the Lock-disabling the security system surrounding it-but before he can do so, Megatron swoops into the room and seizes the Lock, triggering the security system and sending the Atlantis into self-destruct mode. Before the Decepticon leader can abscond with the Omega Lock, however, Optimus Prime comes crashing through the ceiling, and orders Vector Prime and the others to retreat while he battles Megatron for possession of the ancient device.
Vector Prime, the kids and the Mini-Cons join the other Autobots outside the Atlantis and watch as explosions burst all across the surface of the craft, until it finally erupts in a colossal fireball. The Autobots think Optimus Prime is done for, but moments later, the Autobot leader comes soaring out of the fading light of the explosion, Omega Lock in hand! Believing Megatron to be so many cosmic particles, the Decepticons retreat, and the Autobots regroup on the surface of the moon. Optimus Prime moves to hand the Omega Lock to Vector Prime, when it suddenly erupts with light, shooting a beam of energy off into the depths of the space. On Velocitron, the Planet Cup resonates and does the same, as does the Beast Totem of Jungle Planet. Before the Autobots' eyes, a space bridge opens in the air above them, and a communication comes through from Red Alert, instructing them to come to Velocitron urgently. Ordering the other Autobots and kids back to base with the Omega Lock, Optimus Prime takes Vector Prime and Landmine with him through the space bridge, to the next planet, and the next adventure!

Notes
Differences with Galaxy Force
The principal change to this episode is the customary insertion of the Omega Frequency and dialogue relating to it into a large number of appropriate scenes. Additional changes include:
- In Galaxy Force, the airliner Autobots investigate the North Pole. In Cybertron, they search the South Pole.
- When Vector Prime activates the Atlantis's battle mode in Galaxy Force, an ancient recording plays (in an unintelligible language which Jolt translates), simply telling the "crew" of the ship what is happening. Cybertron replaces this with the sound of the Omega Frequency, and Jolt not translating, but simply telling them what's happening. This ancient language is later heard again announcing the self-destruct sequence, and is simply replaced with a klaxon in Cybertron.
Animation and/or technical glitches
- In the opening seconds of the Cybertron version of the episode, Jetfire asks: "Where did they go? And how do we get them back?" but it's Landmine's mouth that's moving.
Continuity errors
- Cybertron has Vector Prime claim that "all four" of his team are fine after they escape the Atlantis. There are seven of them!
Miscellaneous trivia
- From this episode up to "Champion" (inclusive), a different, unidentified actor replaces Ryan Hirakida as Bud.
- In the closing moments of the episode, as Optimus Prime hands him the Omega Lock, Vector Prime spontaneously develops a British accent. He'll keep this upper-class method of speech for the remainder of the series.
