Gildo

I know spelling wise that is what it should be, but in my opinion with the past articles of japanese original characters' names. Glide would sound more accurate as his name, rather than Gildo. Maybe, but his name is still not Glide, it's Gildo (or maybe Gildor?). It's possible it's supposed to be another one of those weird Japanese puns, but his name still isn't Gildo. Besides, TF names in Japan often have nothing to do with abilities or personality. True, true. I'll admit there are names out there from the japanese choices that don't go with that theme. However looking at most of the Car Robots cast, most have names derived from actual words (ex. Mach Alert, Speedbreaker, Indy Heat, etc). Also, I do not know how much experience you have with japanese names from anime. But I have seen a few who don't use the standard hiragana translations for the word. And we all know mistakes happen that don't get caught before being released.

Point is I think it should be Glide, maybe it could be considered to put an addition on "Dark Scream"'s page that his japanese name might be Glide, along with the straight translation.68.33.114.43 14:45, 28 September 2009 (EDT)

Dude, I don't think you get how this works. This is not a "translation" issue. ギ is Gi, ル is ru and ド is do. That's just the end of the story! It's not a question of translating the world "glide" and screwing it up - they've explicitly chosen those syllables. If they wanted it to be "Glide," then it would be a four-character word sounding out "Gu-ra-i-do". And it's not. - Chris McFeely 14:54, 28 September 2009 (EDT)

Oh I guess you're right mazenoise. Sorry, its been awhile since I was looking into the proper terminology of the language. Thank you for correcting me. As for McFeely, I realize that's what the characters sound like. But Im not saying it is this site's translation fault, Im saying the japanese creator of the series mucked up on the translation of glide. Sorry, that I did not make my point out correctly. Yes, that is how it is spelled phoenetically. But I do believe you are wrong, for it does have a [[1]]. As for your precedent, look down in the toy section and beside his name will be [[2]].
