The Transformers Cards are cards containing barcodes to be used in the Transformers Animated: The Chase and Transformers Animated: The Shooting arcade card-reading games. Most of the cards contain Animated characters, but a few contain Generation 1 characters, often based on their Masterpiece toys.
There are two variations of cards that can be obtained. The first uses images that are based on photos of the toys and can be bought at both machines themselves, the resulting card being random. The second variation has "P" in their numbering system as part of "Promotion cards", using both character model and style guide artwork with tech specs, and can be found packaged with their respective toys.
As should be unsurprising, there are varying levels of rarity from those bought via the machines. Sega's site has the rating base from no stars to three stars. The majority of the cards are normal with no star; one star indicates "silver rare" with a silver shine; two stars indicates "gold rare" with a gold shine; and three stars is "master rare" with both gold and silver.
