This article is about a character or concept that lacks a name, but has an official term or designation. |
- It is an ancient mechanoid from the Generation 1 continuity family.

The entity known only as It resides in the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. The exact relationship of It to the Matrix is unknown, although It was probably an Autobot in life. It may be the chronologically earliest being to have merged with the Matrix.
Fiction
Generation 1 cartoon
- Voice actor: Peter Cullen (English), ??? (Japanese)

After being injured on Chaar, Rodimus Prime experienced a bizarre (probably metaphorical) vision. He saw the physical form of It, which shattered, releasing a dark destructive presence that destroyed a sequence of ancient Cybertronians before fading to reveal the eerily-similar face of a Quintesson Judge, which also shattered. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2
When the Hate Plague threatened to infect all life in the universe, Optimus Prime made a desperate mental trip into the Matrix in search of a cure. After speaking with Alpha Trion, Optimus Prime encountered It, which told him of the Matrix's previous exposure to the Hate Plague. At that time, a wise man was able to contain the plague's spores and seal them within a star, but no one person had enough wisdom to destroy the plague completely. Optimus Prime gambled that the accumulated wisdom contained within the Matrix itself would be enough, and released it, which indeed destroyed the Hate Plague. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2
Whether the essence of It remains in the Matrix or was lost when Optimus opened it is unknown.
Notes
- This robot was never named in fiction. The designation "It" comes from a cartoon episode script.
- In this case, how do you spell the possessive form of "It"?
