Marvel Comics continuity

Hawthorne, with a few tanks and some soldiers, was assigned to defend Portland, Oregon, from the giant robot threat in conjugation with Blackrock Enterprises. They were quickly tested, as when they were giving a press conference in the suburbs surrounding Blackrock Aerospace Plant Number One, Shockwave flew by, carrying a tank. Alarmed, Hawthorne ordered the tanks to attack him, but their fire had little, if any, effect on the Transformer. Blackrock implored Hawthrone to stop attacking, as the ricochet from the shells hitting Shockwave could injure his workers in the Plant. Repeat Performance!

Soundwave would later send Laserbeak with a recorded message to the army, using a Mozzarella Mike's delivery man as the messenger. Hawthorne accepted the tape and put it in his player. The message indicated that if Hawthorne did not move his men away from the premises of the Assembly Plant, Shockwave would kill all of the human slaves inside and the army. Hawthorne, not willing to risk the hostages' lives, made the decision to retreat. Just at that moment, Laserbeak burst out of the recorder and flew away. Hawthorne ordered his men to shoot the bird, but the Transformer was far too quick. Brainstorm!
