Sentinel Major comes from a very distinguished heritage. The "Sentinel Line" from which Sentinel takes his name comprises a storied history of war heroes, all who have fought in key battles in Cybertron's history, and all who have worn the distinguished blue and orange that Sentinel wears. Sentinel lives every moment confident in the knowledge that, somewhere out there, his legendary ancestors are looking down on him and wishing they were him instead.

- His appearance—and placement as Magnum's right-hand bot—is pretty obviously an homage to Animated Sentinel Prime. (So far his personality is a bit less jerkish, though.)
- But whether he's technically an incarnation of Generation 1 Sentinel Prime is a matter of some debate.
