Gorlam Prime

Gorlam Prime is a planet from the IDW comics portion of the Generation 1 continuity family. It was renamed Cybertron by its inhabitants.

Gorlam Prime is a planet in the same sector of space as the Benzuli Expanse cosmic anomaly. It has recently experienced a technological renaissance, with great leaps in science and an obvious transition from biological to mechanical lifeforms. This advancement has been rather sudden and unprecedented, happening at an unusual rate.

Deep below its surface, the planet houses a strange ocean-like anomaly that leads to the Dead Universe, along with ancient catacomb ruins from what appears to be another civilization.

Taking "Do the Robot" to a whole new level.

While studying the world, Nightbeat suspected Cybertronian influences in their technology, and he was vindicated upon finding remains of the original Ark spacecraft in an archaeological dig. He was then attacked by a previously unknown type of Transformer. These smaller individuals herded him towards a "Hole in the World" deep beneath the planet's surface. Spotlight: Nightbeat

When Nightbeat later returned with Hardhead, trying to find out what had happened the first time, they found the entire world was in chrysalis state and evolving into a final form; the only active lifeforms were the small Transformers. Jhiaxus revealed to Hardhead that the entire planet was one big experiment, as he had been slowly turning the locals into the smaller Transformers. These more durable forms were intended to survive the coming Expansion, and would become the template for the rest of the universe. Spotlight: Hardhead

Oh, this is embarrassing. We both showed up in the same outfit.

While Jhiaxus was busy proceeding with the Expansion, Arcee interrupted him and chased him to the silvery underground sea. As Jhiaxus tried to escape through it, the now undead Hardhead arose and barred his way. This gave Arcee the time she needed to kill him. Hardhead explained that in this place, the border between two dimensions, Jhiaxus—like himself—was now essentially immortal. That suited Arcee fine, as it meant she could spend eternity killing Jhiaxus over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Later, Jetfire watched the planet, observing as its inhabitants emerged from their stasis as completely mechanical beings. They no longer referred to their world as Gorlam Prime, instead calling it... Cybertron. Spotlight: Sideswipe

The new, mechanical Gorlam Prime became one of the galaxy's pinnacles of cyber-organic life... for a couple of years. Heart of Darkness issue 1 Before long, the malevolent Dead Universe entity "D-Void" managed to spread its influence through the portal on Gorlam Prime, entrancing the entire population of the planet. It lured every single one of them into the Dead Universe and feasted on their sparks, leaving the planet empty except for Arcee, Hardhead and a few half-dead former Dead Universe residents. Some time later, Galvatron returned to Gorlam Prime, revived the other Dead Universe Transformers, and investigated the missing population. Heart of Darkness issue 1 After learning of D-Void and its plan to destroy them all, he began to raise an army to oppose it, and used Gorlam Prime as their base. Heart of Darkness issue 3
