Within a day after the revival of the AllSpark, Sentinel Prime informed Optimus of his wish to see him take the role of ruler of their reunited planet and asked him to travel to Trypticon with him to make it official. Foundation #1 Optimus declined because he believed he could help Cybertron flourish in ways better suited to his skills. Sentinel Prime accepted his decision, suggesting that Optimus and Megatron would become co-rulers of Cybertron instead, which Optimus did agree to. Had Megatron not overheard the entire conversation and felt decidedly betrayed, that would've been a good arrangement. But for the time being, Megatron kept quiet about his discovery.

Three solar cycles later, Cybertron was officially declared unified at Trypticon, where the Cybertronian population had gathered on Sentinel Prime's invitation. Trypticon was declared the new capital of the planet, followed by the appointment of Optimus as head of the Science Division and Megatron as head of the Defense Force. Foundation #2 Megatron set up office in Trypticon, but it's unknown if Optimus did so too.

Ironhide and Starscream had an appointment with Megatron, but Starscream was held up near the Eshems Nebula by a scoutship of a hostile alien fleet. When he finally got to Trypticon, Ratchet patched his minor injuries and Ironhide pulled him along to Megatron's office. Optimus was present when he arrived, discussing the latest findings of the Science Division with Megatron, but ended it so the two arrivals could report on Defense Force activity. Interest piqued by Optimus's report, Megatron travelled to the excavation site near Simfur and arrived just when the Science Division found the first whole specimen of ancient artifacts that had been littered around the site. As Megatron and Optimus argued over what to do with, the aliens of the Eshems Nebula attacked. Megatron ordered the Science Division to dig up the artifact and bring it to his quarters in Trypticon, where it would be safe. Optimus reluctantly obeyed the order.
Once the battle was nearly won and Megatron had sustained some bad injuries, he dragged himself back to his quarters, feeling the artifact call to him. Defiance #1 When he had recovered, the artifact spoke to him, revealing itself to be The Fallen, one of the original Primes. Defiance #2
Trypticon contained the home of the Decepticon leader, Defiance #3 a large building that was adorned with a giant head of Megatron before some jerk blew it up. The Reign of Starscream #3
Later, when a spaceship fell on it, it exploded. The Reign of Starscream Issue #5
Notes
- According to The Reign of Starscream trade paperback, one draft of the script had the replica AllSpark accidentally turn the city into a huge frikkin' robot.
