There is a reason diplomacy is a "lost art."

Synopsis

Intergalactic diplomat Fflaxl is sent by the Universal Peacekeeping Committee is sent to Cybertron, upon hearing about its civil war. Fflaxl had received only the most preliminary briefings about his mission, as he claimed to know little of the difference between Autobots, Decepticons, and Mini-Cons, but nonetheless he was supremely confident in his abilities to make them all see things his way.

He brought along his huge bodyguard, Bix, and landed on Cybertron. He was caught unaware as Optimus Prime flew through the air and landed on Bix, easily smashing him into the ground. Megatron soon arrived and battled with Prime before powerlinxing with Leader-1 to tip the odds in his favor. Megatron and Prime then leapt away to continue the battle elsewhere.

Fflaxl's confidence dissipated and he returned to his ship and fled the planet, telling himself that things should work out here without his interference.

Quotes

"You know what? I bet the whole thing's been blown out of proportion. I've seen it a dozen times. We get sent to examine a so-called emergency situation. And what happens? Ends up being some small misunderstanding. I'm sure once we all sit down and talk things through calmly everyone will shake hands and—EEEEP!!"

—Fflaxl speaks to Bix about his first impressions on the Autobot/Decepticon war upon arrival at Cybertron.


"I've decided that some conflicts are better left untouched. I mean, who am I to interfere? I'm sure everything will work out in the end. You believe me, Right?"

—Fflaxl, moments later after Bix was flattened.

Errors

  • Prime was still able to battle with Megatron even after he had powered himself up with Leader-1. Later in the series, Megatron was easily able to thrash Prime under the same conditions.
  • This issue is said to have taken place millions of years ago, but the most likely placement of events puts this story sometime between issues 2 and 3, which took place one million years ago.
  • Prime and Megatron are both drawn with their Earth-mode bodies, millions of years before they would acquire them.

  • This preview was included with the second printing of the Prime Directive preview.
  • This issue was retroactively dubbed "issue 0" in IDW Publishing's omnibus reprint of the Transformers Armada comic.
  • This events of this issue take place sometime between issues 2 and 3 of the main comic.
  • Prime and Megatron sure can jump far!
  • Also, Prime doesn't appear too concerned that he just flattened Bix.
