Lipole are small flying bat-like Transformers, apparantly native to Jupiter's moon of Io.
They can transform into explosive missiles, and fling themselves at predators. A swarm of Lipole destroyed Marissa Faireborne's ship, when she was rescuing Blurr and Wheelie.
