Monstercons are a Decepticon sub-group from the IDW continuity portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

After the end of the Great War, Krok's team of "expropriation specialists" were scavenging energon and spare parts from the Decepticon corpses on Clemency. Misfire's insistence on sampling the harvested energon backfired when he took some from a Monstercon that had overdosed on circuit speeders, leaving him more than a little...wired. • Skullgrin was referred to as a "Monstercon" in the original Marvel story "Monstercon from Mars!".
