The name Prime can refer to a Matrixload of different things.

Transformer component

• 1985 — Prime is a little-used term for Generation 1 Optimus Prime's cart-sized drone usually known as Roller.
• 2004 — Prime Force, a team of drones used by Energon Optimus Prime.

The rank Prime, held by many characters, generally bearers of the Matrix of Leadership.

Matrix bearers

• Optimus Prime, a name that has been applied to many different characters who have a tendency to carry the Matrix of Leadership.
• Sentinel Prime, a name that has been applied to many different characters who have a tendency to die and precede Optimus Prime as Autobot leader.
• 1986 — Rodimus Prime, the form taken by Hot Rod when he gets the Matrix in most of the Generation 1 continuities.
• 1990 — Prime Nova, a past Matrix bearer first mentioned in the Generation 1 Marvel comics.
• 2000 — Omega Prime, the combined form of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, who has the Matrix, and Robots in Disguise Ultra Magnus, who wants the Matrix.
• 2005 — Vector Prime, guardian of time and space, one of the thirteen original Transformers, and incidentally, apparently another Matrix-bearer.
• 2003 — Alpha Prime, another name for Primon, the first Matrix-bearer in some continuities.
• 2003 — Guardian Prime, one more past Matrix-bearer, also foisted upon us by the Dreamwave Generation 1 comics.
• 2007 — Nova Prime, who abandoned the Matrix for the Darkness in the IDW comic continuity.
• 2008 — Zeta Prime, the ill-fated interim Prime left to glue the Autobots back together after the Decepticons' rise in IDW continuity.
• 2009 — The Dynasty of Primes, the group of ancient Cybertronians who hid their Matrix and restored it in Revenge of the Fallen.
• 2009 — Bendy-Bus Prime, apparently somehow part of the Dynasty.

• Nemesis Prime, a name that has been applied to several different characters, one of which carries the Dead Matrix.
• 2000 — Primal Prime, the Vok-created Living Matrix and leader of the Wreckers.
• 2002 — Prime is the Japanese name for Armada Sparkplug, who hung on to the Matrix after Armada Optimus Prime died.
• 2007 — Leo Prime, another name for Lio Convoy, a high-ranking Maximal with an Energon Matrix, which is not the Matrix.
• 2007 — Modus Prime, the first of the Mini-Cons and their leader in the Classics portion of the Generation 1 series.
• 2008 — Longarm Prime, the Autobot intelligence officer disguise of Shockwave from Animated.
• 2009 — Rodimus Prime, the Autobot Elite Guard member and leader of Team Athenia from Animated.
• 2009 — Nexus Prime, one of the 13 and the guardian of Rarified Energon.
• 2010 — Sentinel Zeta Prime, leader of Cybertron before Optimus Prime from Prime.
• 2010 — Megatronus Prime, former name of The Fallen.
• 2010 — Big Bang Prime, an Autobot bound to Beta Supreme from Animated.
• 2010 — Override Prime, an Autobot bound to Kappa Supreme from Animated.
• 2010 — Fire Prime an Autobot commander killed by Cosmic Rust during the Great War from Animated.
• 2012 — Any of the 14 Neighborhood Commanders with the rank of Prime from the Cybertron Satellite promotion.

Locations

• 2006 — Gorlam Prime, the old name of a planet in the same sector of space as the Benzuli Expanse.

Fictional stories

Several stories contained the word "Prime".

• 2004 — "Prime Spark", a prose story in which Armada Optimus Prime, who happens to be a Matrix-bearer, meets some other Transformers named Optimus, including Generation 1 Optimus Prime, who also happens to be a Matrix-bearer.

Television

• 1985 — "A Prime Problem", in which nobody thought to check which Optimus Prime had the Matrix.
• 1985 — "Prime Target", in which a hunter was targeting Optimus Prime, who has the Matrix.
• 1987 — "The Return of Optimus Prime", in part 2 of which Optimus Prime fights Rodimus Prime for the Matrix.
• 2010 — Transformers: Prime, a television series and franchise with accompanying toyline.

Comics

• 1985 — "Prime Time!", an issue of the Marvel Comics Generation 1 comic book in which Optimus Prime gets back the Matrix.
• 2002 — Prime Directive, a six-part Dreamwave Generation 1 miniseries which has a bunch of Autobots reactivated by the Matrix.
• 2005 — "Vector Prime: In the Beginning", an issue of the Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club comic which includes a flashback with Optimus Prime opening the Matrix.
• 2010 — "Transformers: Prime the adaptation accompanying the new television series.

Books

• 2011 — "Prime Target"

• 2011 — Transformers Prime: Terrorcon Defense, a Transformers: Prime online game.

• Prima, the first Transformer and Matrix-bearer.
• Primus, Transformer God, who made the Matrix.
• Optimus Primal, the munky from Beast Wars, who had an Energon Matrix in Japan.
• Primacron, the mighty ape-like creator of Unicron, who just doesn't get it.
• The thirteen original Transformers, who as a whole are sometimes simply called the Primes.
