Sheol is a location from the cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

A hot spot (pun intended) on dark side of the gambling asteroid Monacus (perhaps the only hot spot), Sheol is home to Lord Gyconi and his Pit of Destruction.

Don't expect to find this one in the travel brochures, kiddies.

The Transformers cartoon

After having his companions captured by Bosch, Smokescreen found himself having to join the alien in his trip to the city. The pair used Smokescreen's Autobot friends as collateral in an effort to get credits that Smokescreen could use to gamble with in the hopes of paying for his friends' freedom. This ended badly, as Smokescreen was caught cheating and lost his whole wad.

The pair holed up in one of the city's many bars, in the process encountering Devcon, a bounty hunter who was there to hunt down some Decepticons. As it turned out, Ramjet and Dirge had arrived in Astrotrain with the intent of shaking down Gyconi.

Gyconi diverted their attention by encouraging them to visit the true main attraction of Gyconi's facility, a gladiatorial arena. Optimus Prime and later Inferno were placed under mind control and rolled out in order to fight fixed matches against the Animalien gladiators, but only the former actually engaged in battle as Smokescreen & co. made a scene before the latter's battle could begin. The city then saw a real fight in which Gyconi and the Decepticons teamed up against Smokescreen and Devcon. Once Astrotrain was loaded with energon cubes, Gyconi and the Decepticons fled, Devcon and his new ally Slizardo in hot pursuit. This allowed Smokescreen and Bosch the chance to restore the Autobots before Bosch decided to go hit "casino row." The Gambler

What happens in Sheol stays in Sheol, eh?

Notes

  • Sheol is named for She'ol, where — according to Jewish theology — the wicked dead go for spiritual purification or punishment and is thus the furthest point away from Heaven. Given the fact that the city appears to be one giant slum filled with casinos, bars, and other less-than-savory locations, the name is hilariously appropriate. As such, it serves as one of the many parental bonus moments that were among the hallmarks of the Sunbow offerings during the 1980s.
