When the first trailer for the Bumblebee movie was released, pretty much every viewer assumed that this very very Starscream-y looking Decepticon, who features many design and transformation elements lifted from the original Generation 1 Seeker bodytype and the classic red and grey/white colours of the original Starscream... was obviously friggin' Starscream. A synopsis for the film posted on the official Viacom blog even referred to the treacherous Decepticon by name^[1]—only for the synopsis to be edited within hours to remove it. Director Travis Knight then stated at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 that the Decepticon was, in fact, Blitzwing. Hmn. Yeah, we're as incredulous as you are.
Blitzwing was used as a "cover" name on concept art of Dark of the Moon Shockwave.^[2]
