- As a seminal time-travel story in Western culture, Back to the Future has had its share of influences on Transformers. To name a few:
- The ninth part of the Marvel UK story "Target: 2006" and the Rescue Bots episode "Bot to the Future" homage the film's title.
- The Cybertron episode "Hero" references a "flux-capacitor".
- Rescue Bots features a solar car inspired by the iconic DeLorean time machine.
- The Dark of the Moon incarnation of Wheeljack has a head design inspired by Doc Brown.
- Vector Prime's enjoyment of Eric Stoltz in Back to the Future references the film's production cycle, in which Stoltz was initially cast as protagonist Marty McFly before being fired and replaced by Michael J. Fox only weeks after filming began.
