Japanese Generation 1 continuity
« Victory »

Running through 1989, the Victory manga acted as an alternate telling of the events of the Victory storyline (much like its precursor, the Masterforce manga, was to its TV counterpart), rather than a supplement to the television series.

However, while the Masterforce manga essentially told a variation of the anime story, hitting the same basic plot points and employing characters in the same manner as the show, the Victory anime's lack of any real direction, plot or characterization allowed the manga to do its own unique thing with the scenario. Consequently, the Victory manga is best remembered for its often bizarre plots, including Autobot and Deception leaders bickering like disgruntled PTA members and the first canonical appearance of female Decepticons.
