The intention was to have them be those characters infiltrating the Transformers universe. As such, although the set retained the name "<B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66">G1</B> <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B>" and the references to various Tonka GoBot concepts were kept in the team Bio, the individual character names were dropped from the final packaging.

After years of research, the human <A class=new title="Doctor Braxis" href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=Doctor_Braxis&action=edit">Doctor Braxis</A> used his <A class=new title="Dimensional Interfacer" href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=Dimensional_Interfacer&action=edit">Dimensional Interfacer</A> to trace the source of the destruction to a newly-created <A title="Classics (2006)" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Classics_(2006)">parallel universe</A>, which was "over-writing" and replacing theirs in the grand cosmic tapestry. A group of four Guardians and two Renegades had their bodies modified to match the specifications of these "<A title=Transformer href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformer">Transformers</A>", with the intent that they be sent into this new universe in order to integrate themselves into its people, explore and discern a means of saving their own world. When they were dispatched across the dimensions by the Interfacer, rather than wind up in their intended target universe, they were inadvertantly caught in the wake of another <A title="Bee in the City" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Bee_in_the_City">group of dimensional travelers</A> and arrived on an entirely different Cybertron, in the city of <A title="Axiom Nexus" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Axiom_Nexus">Axiom Nexus</A>.
Dubbed "mechanoids of interest" due to their unconventional means of arrival,
the six <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> were
subjected to lengthy interrogation, until it was eventually decided by the <A
title=TransTech href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/TransTech">TransTechs</A> that ran
Axiom Nexus that they would take no active hand in the saving of the <B
style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B>' universe.
Additionally, the <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B>
were forbidden to leave Axiom Nexus, and were subjected to extensive processing
before being sent out to live in the city. During this processing, however,
Renegade Bug Bite stole away, using a portable <A class=new title=Astro-Beam
href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=Astro-Beam&action=edit">Astro-Beam</A>
that he had brought with him to teleport into the city. Working quickly, Bug
Bite murdered <A class=new title=Comet
href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=Comet&action=edit">a
Transformer</A> and stole his money, which he used to purchase a body upgrade
for himself from <A class=new title="Swindle, Swindle & Swindle"
href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=Swindle%2C_Swindle_%26_Swindle&action=edit">Swindle,
Swindle & Swindle</A>, and then traded the Astro-Beam to <A title=Escargon
href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Escargon">Escargon</A> for an off-world pass that
would allow him to use one of the TransTech's dimensional gates, no questions
asked. When the Astro-Beam's temporary effect wore off, he was returned to the
processing centre and used the pass to travel to the group's original <A
title="The Transformers (Marvel Comics)"
href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_Transformers_(Marvel_Comics)">destination
universe</A>. He began a plan of his own, arriving in the target universe
fifteen years earlier than planned, hoping to avert the cataclysm before it
began and hiding himself amongst the ranks of the Decepticons in order to work
towards the destruction of <A title="Megatron (G1)"
href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Megatron_(G1)">Megatron</A>, having pinpointed him
as the cosmic fulcrum on which the cataclysm hinged.
Searching for both the missing Bug Bite and some means out of Axiom Nexus, the other <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> soon stumbled into the mess the Renegade had left behind and were accused of the theft of the passes by <A class=new title="General Demolishor" href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=General_Demolishor&action=edit">General Demolishor</A> of the Military Police. Demolishor kidnapped Treds and took him to the lawless region known as the "<A class=new title=Heap href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=Heap&action=edit">Heap</A>", where he intended to ransom him for the passes that he believed the other <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> had. With no other options, the four remaining <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> battled the general for their lives, and ultimately emerged victorious thank to the help of <A title="Crystal Widow" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Crystal_Widow">Crystal Widow</A>, and the legal wranglings of <A title="Airazor (BW)" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Airazor_(BW)">Airazor</A> and <A title="Cheetor (TransTech)" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Cheetor_(TransTech)">Commander Cheetor</A>. In order to both help the <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> in their mission, and to save themselves any further trouble, Airazor and Cheetor gave the passes, Airazor had previously recovered, to the <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B>, allowing them to travel on to their intended universe.
The <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> arrived in their target universe at their alloted time, not long after Bug Bite's fifteen-year-long scheme had resulted in Megatron <A title="Games of Deception" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Games_of_Deception">blowing his head off</A>. The other <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> materialized in front of his "corpse" shortly after <A title="Dreadwind (G1)" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Dreadwind_(G1)">Dreadwind</A> had dragged it to safety, at which point Bug Bite's headless body stood up and fished a new head for itself out of a spare parts bin. As Bug Bite explained to his shocked companions, he had survived simply by keeping his organic brain behind his windshield, instead of his head—and that they could soon expect other <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> to be joining them... <SPAN class=tt1_nowrap style="BORDER-RIGHT: #cccccc 1px solid; PADDING-RIGHT: 5px; BORDER-TOP: #cccccc 0px solid; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; FONT-SIZE: 10px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; BORDER-LEFT: #cccccc 1px solid; PADDING-TOP: 0px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #cccccc 0px solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ececec"><A title="Withered Hope" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Withered_Hope">Withered Hope</A></SPAN> <A name=Trivia></A> <H2><SPAN class=editsection>[<A title="Edit section: Trivia" href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=GoBots_%28G1%29&action=edit§ion=3">edit</A>]</SPAN> <SPAN class=mw-headline>Trivia</SPAN></H2> <DIV class="thumb tright"> <DIV class=thumbinner style="WIDTH: 252px"><A class=image title="Ferocious battle scene or family picnic? - The concept behind this set is more ingenious if you know a little about
the events of the <I>Challenge of the <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B></I> TV show. During the GoBotron Saga miniseries, it was revealed that the Renegades possess a machine that can reconfigure <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> to blend in with robots from other worlds! It is possible that this very machine was used by the <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66">G1</B> <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> Team to make them appear Cybertronian.
- The team Bio suggests that the <B
style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B> passed some of their technology on to the Cybertronians. Among these is the technology behind the <A class=mw-redirect title="Spy Changers" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Spy_Changers">Spy Changers</A>, toys whose molds were originally marketed as the <A class=mw-redirect title="Generation 2" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Generation_2">Generation 2</A> <A class=mw-redirect title="Go-Bots (G2)" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Go-Bots_(G2)">Go-Bots</A>. <DIV class="thumb tright"> <DIV class=thumbinner style="WIDTH: 182px"><A class=image title="Now available in six fruity flavors!" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:Miscolored_minibots.jpg"><IMG class=thumbimage height=106 alt="Now available in six fruity flavors!" src="GoBots_(G1)_fichiers/180px-Miscolored_minibots.jpg" width=180 border=0></A>

- Treds, Bad Boy and Path Finder's colors are inspired by prototype versions
of the <A class=mw-redirect title="Mini Vehicles" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Mini_Vehicles">Mini Vehicles</A> seen in an early Takara catalog book. (See image at right.)
- The <A title="Ladybird Books"
href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Ladybird_Books">Ladybird</A> book <I><A title="Autobots' Lightning Strike" href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Autobots'_Lightning_Strike">Autobots' Lightning Strike</A></I> features miscolored versions of Huffer and Gears that somewhat resemble the colorations given to Road Ranger and Small Foot. Whether or not the <B style="COLOR: black; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a0ffff">GoBots</B>' similarities are intentional or not is debatable. <A name=External_links></A> <H2><SPAN class=editsection>[<A title="Edit section: External links" href="http://tfwiki.net/w2/index.php?title=GoBots_%28G1%29&action=edit§ion=4">edit</A>]</SPAN> <SPAN class=mw-headline>External links</SPAN></H2>
