Hoist is an Autobot actor, famous (almost typecast) as a "loner with a gun" man. He claims to be weary of fame and fans, which is why he does his interviews in crowded public bars where the interviewee will see him being loved.
He's friends with Sentinel Prime and has the profile for politics, but he isn't after high office. Nope. No sir.

Hoist was later interviewed about his part in the potentially inflammatory Autobot propaganda films (or "public service announcements" as he calls them) by multiversal newspaper ALTernity Today. Hoist said they were necessary to remind everyone to be vigilant against a genuine menace, but then he also said that his "comedy" Autobot Academy 9 would be instrumental in an Autobot victory.
